I love the Army-Navy Football Game. It is absolutely one of the greatest traditions in all of sport, period. The pageantry, the history and the fact that these fellows fighting on the gridiron today, will be fighting it out for real in the very near future.
There is a book written by author John Feinstein called "Army-Navy: A Civil War" that totally captures the essence of this football rivalry. I highly recommend it to any one. Not just sports fans or those who are interested in the military. It is a well researched, superbly written eye witness account of one year's game and the events leading up to and surrounding it. Feinstein had unlimited access to both West Point, The Naval Academy and players, coaches, officers, etc for both sides. It really is facinating stuff...
And if you don't really care to read the book, fine...the game starts in 15 minutes (2:30pm EDT) on CBS TV.
