The Purdue Boilermaker basketball team didn't play as hard as the Iowa Hawkeye team did and they got beat 67-65. The Boilers came out of the gate looking good but started to fade about the middle of the first half as Iowa turned it up intensity wise. The B-Boys couldn't match it for the rest of the game and lost.
The loss doesn't bother so much season wise...they still will finish in the top 10 in the Nation or close. Get a 2 seed in the B-10 Tourney and probably a 3 seed in the NCAA's. Thats all good really...no shame in any of that especially beginning the BBall season with the news that Robbie Hummel is lost for the year.
What bothers me is the way they came out and played today leading to this loss. I really believed that the Boilers had a real chance to give it a real go in the NCAA Tournament, perhaps even Final Four. After today...eeer, hmm...I'm not sure.
But this could be a good thing...losses like this often are a wake-up call for complacency. We'll see...One other thing that BUGS me is that Ohio State gets a pass tomorrow. they have already clinched the outright B-10 Title. I wanted to see them play a tough and HUNGRY Badger team tomorrow with a share of that title on the line. Not gonna happen. Congrats to the Convicts..er Buckeyes for winning the Big Ten Title outright...it's a heck of an accomplishment.
Basically now we have the B-10 Tourney then MARCH Madness then it's BASEBALL SEASON...HOORAY!
