Freakin' BARNEY!

Last night here in Rochester. One more test tomorrow, kind a a freaky thing called a sweat test. They cover you in powder, roll you into a heat chamber and the stuff turns purple where you sweat. So I'll look like freaking Barney when I'm finished!!

Your supposed to get a shower when your finished, i hope so...I don't want to be driving back through all the toll booth around Chicago tomorrow evening looking like that goofy cartoon Character! What a trip.

Things here this week have gone very well. My only disappointment is that I have to come back for 2 days in April for the final Consults. We couldn't possibly do them this week still, it was just impossible.I'm really concerned about cost again because this whole thing was way more expensive then I expected it to be. I've had some help doing this which was quite frankly, unbelievable and I appreciate it. I would not have made it without it. I'm usually pretty realistic about these things but i missed the boat on this one big time.

Well, I'm going to do the best I can and I'll just have to see what happens. I'm optimistic...

This truly has been a good experience for me... I've learned a lot about my body and the human body in general. I've learned a great deal about this very special place. It is simply remarkable, it really is. I have also met many wonderful people...that is a huge part of what's so special here..the city itself and it's people. They truly are ONE with the MAYO Clinic...they come together.

I wouldn't have believed that really until I experienced it for my self...Time for a walk.

  1. Too bad you couldn't post a pic of the purple powdered you.

I suppose you could think of this as your personal renovation. You've got your consultations, estimates, construction usually not without obstructions or obstacles, then eventually a new and improved structure... together with a much lighter wallet.

  2. That is one pic that NOBODY is going to see!
They're telling me that this whole thing is covered so I hope your wrong about the lighter wallet accept for the expenses of coming here and staying. Jeez, if they hit me up for medical expenses for this...I'm busted for life!

All I was thinking about was the irony of it all: I got sober, fought tooth and nail to stay that way, changed my whole and i'm as content and yea, even happy as I have ever been...then I get a disease I can't treat and die. That would be my luck!

I just am not gonna let my self go there...I'll take it one day at a time...

  3. Have fun with the Barney thing. Be sure and sing his songs and get them stuck in everyone's heads. Or don't. Maybe, yeah, don't.

Glad things are going okay for you..We'll stay tuned to hear all about it..

Yeah... I didn't think you'd post the Barney you, but I had to say it.

Sorry... when I made the renovation and construction analogy and mentioned the lighter wallet, I wasn't referring to the sweat test being an extra medical expense, I was thinking about the comment you made about the whole trip thing costing more than you expected.

One step at a time, one test at a time, and, as you say... one day at a time.

Agh... and thanks to Sunny I now have the damn Barney theme song in my head... I had somehow managed to avoid it up til now.

  5. SG- I laughed out loud when I read that about posting a pic...

And your right about One day At A Time. Cost is always going to be huge when doing this thing..it's having to come back the 2nd wk of April thats kind of grinding me but just like you wrote I have to take it all in little steps.

I'm lucky that I was able to block the Barney thing out of my brain. It helps that my kids never got into Barney in the first place!
