Big Bad Boilers @ The Madness

Purdue guard Lewis Jackson looks to pass the ball against IPFW.

Alright, I need my Boilers to bounce back...they just suffered their first losing streak of the season losing a league game at Mini. then dropping a non-conference game at West Virgina. Neither one of those was what I would consider a "BAD" loss...they were both on the road and to teams in ranked in one of the polls or darn close. The last thing was it's only one Big-10 loss so it didn't hurt us in the standings too much.

They were both close and honestly we should have won them both. I do like to win the Big-10, don't get me wrong but as far as I'm concerned the Tourney is the prize and these two tough games away from Mackey Arena are good prep for March Madness. I think this team,, who lost a shoo-in lock for All-American in Robbie Hummel to injury before the season is not a team that's set up for a league type run and win...perhaps the B-10 Tourney. But they definately are a team that could catch fire in March and make a run to the Final-4, and once your there baby...it's wide open.

Ohio State looks tough as does Duke (of course), the 'Cuse and some others. As Bro Ryan pointed out the Big East is indeed a Beast with like the whole freakin' league in the top 15 (kidding but it's not far off!) so it's never going to be easy.

But we need to climb back on that victory steed tonight and teach those snot nosed Nittany Lions (Penn State) a lesson about coming into "Our House" Mackey and Keady Court.

One last thing: How cool is that that Mean Gene Keady is a Special Assistant Coach to Steve Lavin at St Johns. Lavin is a class guy for thinking of his old buddy and mentor. Keady's wife died last year and Gene was just knockin' around W Lafayette. Lavin obviously knew he was a defensive genius as a coach (look at all those rugged defenses he coached at Purdue) and hired him in. very cool, indeed....

  1. Yes, Lavin is a great guy, and a great coach. Don't believe the naysayers at UCLA who have maligned and slandered him because of their unbelievable sense of entitlement and distorted sense of self. We Red Storm fans are delighted to have a mastermind like Coach Keady onboard.
