I originally titled this this: Edgy Yet Neddy...yep, the old dyslexia popped in there. I was proof reading it and went: "WTF, whose Ned and how did I get to be so familiar w/this Ned I don't even remember that I'm calling him Neddy?!".
OK, alright..I'll be serious (sort of) for a change. I've been thinking (yes, again) about this blog, the content, the lay out, really been trying to figure out what I can do to make it better. And that is when I really realized:
1) How much I enjoy working and writing on this little project called Shell Shock Serenade and:
2) How limited my skills are when it comes to the tech side of a blog. Layout, Links, Pics, etc.
I started this from scratch with ZERO experience other then I could read and write, plus I could use a computer, IE: Internet, load some pics..everything else I've been learning on the fly...and I'm confused.
Really confused and now a tad frustrated because the blog is getting tiresome to look at as far as I'm concerned and I don't know what to do to change it. I'm afraid if I startb I'm going to really screw something up.
Blogger has some "do it yourself" guides online but jeez, they confuse the hell outta me and I'm even more confused then ever after I read them. I know they try but it almost seems those "HELP" instructions are written for people who know what they are doing already. I'm definately not one of them!
No kidding, right? I wrote a post about some of the blogs I follow (Open The Door) and the work there is just incredible. Honestly it's professional quality stuff and I'm am completely in awe and out of my league. I'm thinking,"how can I ever compete with that?" Well I can't really but I can put my own stamp on this thing and that's my mark, my statement and if I do my best well then I am going to be proud of it. So that's the goal, a place to start...
So I'm gonna start messing around behind the scenes with lay outs and stuff so there may be some (different kinds of) bizarre shit (then usual!) popping up now and again.
And hey, if you weren't already impressed with my OTJ Training at Blog Tech Stuff, the above link is a first for me: Yes it's true, I've never linked to my own freaking blog before....WHOOPEEE! Now that's what I'm talking about...
Seriously that is a perfect example of the limitations I am working with every day but it will get better and more professional (I pray to god it will!)....so thanks for hanging in there.
Now let's take this little 'ole blog and go for a RIDE...
i thought your little link back to your blog was a pretty clever thing to do.
ReplyDeleteThank You very much, I'm so proud!
ReplyDeleteGlad you've been able to find some good IT stuff for your page. Me, I'm a tech moron, but lucky that my blog partner is a computer guy. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteCan't teach an old dog new tricks eh? Too funny. I didn't even know what the heck a blog was before I started mine last year. One thing I know for sure about myself is that I am a fast learner. You ask yourself: What do I want to change? Can I do that (yes) and how do I do it? This applies to life as well as to blogs, just that the blog is a heck of lot easier to change than life.
ReplyDeleteGood job on the linky thing.
**high five** on the back-link! I have had a lot of trial and error too, but so far no fatalities ;-) so its all good.
